Wow January, pick a temperature!

So the one constant in our home is soup.

Hot and you can’t be bothered to cook? Soup.
Cold and you need comfort food? Soup.
A pop-up gathering and you’re scrambling to turn dinner for two into dinner for six?
You guessed it… Soup.

Our friend Chef Derek Bissonnette authored a hardcover book in 2018:

It’s now available on Kindle as well.

Today we’re making beef & vegetable soup inspired by Derek’s Beef, Barley, and Portobello Mushroom Soup on page 393.
$15 worth of beef chuck into 4 dinners and two lunches for around $20 ~ inclusive of veggies and wine.
Think of that as $5 per dinner serving.
Half the price of a Big Mac with Fries, with balanced nutrition as a side benefit.

Whoever said “there’s no such thing as free lunch” never made soup!
Our own dead tree copy is looking a bit shopworn as it’s used year-round… seen as our featured photo.

Off to braise …
